According to the URA Drat Master Plan 2019, Orchard and Downtown will undergo series of rejuvenation to create more activities in the area. Instead of being recognise as only a Shopping belt or CBD area, Orchard and Downtown will have more to offer. More lifestyle usage will be introduce to the area to create a vibrant 24/7 destination. The upcoming Thomson-East Coast Line and Circle Line will greatly enhance the connectivity within Central Area. The URA Master Plan also encourage active mobility with the planned 5km cycling network target to be completed by 2021. New housing will be built in Marina South Area with communities facilities and precinct amenities to create car-lite urban village.
